In today’s world where employment legislation is complex, it is vital that managers who hold people supervisory responsibilities are equipped with adequate HR knowledge to be able to manage workplace issues confidently in accordance within the law and know when to ask for help.
There are management posts that do not have any direct reports but if line management forms part of a managers role and they don’t have a background in HR, it is essential that they have an understanding of an employer’s obligations to its employees, the legal frameworks employers must work to and the impact that non-compliance may have on the business. As a manager or supervisor, you need to be aware of how employment law protects employees.
This overview provides managers with an insight of the information required to ensure that organisations comply with employment laws and regulations.
