On Friday 12 December, the Northampton office of local firm Wilson Browne Solicitors transformed into a food bank.
Staff all joined together and donated an array of items, ranging from tinned goods through to essential toiletries, with even some seasonal items making an appearance.
It is estimated that 13 million people in the UK are living below the poverty line. There are people going hungry every single day. Reasons for this include redundancy, illness, benefit delay, domestic violence, debt, family breakdown and paying for the additional costs of heating during winter.
Food banks provide an essential supplyof emergency food and support to people experiencing hardship or crisis.
Patrick Cheadle, Solicitor at Wilson Browne helped to organise the collection. He said: “I have been organising donations for food banks at Christmas time for a number of years. I have always received a huge amount of support and this year has been no different. I find arranging the donation very rewarding and the goods purchased are given directly to those in need.
Ed Rawlins, Partner at Wilson Browne added: “We have been absolutely delighted to support this worthy cause. Wilson Browne is committed to supporting charitable projects within the local community and we hope that the food we have been able to donate will go some way in providing some Christmas cheer.”
