Teamwork members assemble over 5,000 products a month for a global manufacturer

“Outsourcing assembly work to Teamwork Trust is more cost effective and time efficient to our business” – a global door and window manufacturers are continually delighted with a local charity’s business services.

Family-owned, Winkhaus UK Ltd, which provides high-quality window and door technology internationally, has been outsourcing important assembly work to Northamptonshire charity and social enterprise, Teamwork Trust, for seven years.

With no production unit in-house, the company’s Chain Supply Coordinator, Lisa Dewick, says it makes business sense for the charity’s members – who are adults with mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities – to assemble and bag their bespoke components and fittings.

“We cannot carry out this assembly work ourselves so, for us, Teamwork Trust provides a crucial service for our business,” said Lisa. “Members assemble and bag our bespoke split spindle sets, which are essential components for our windows and doors. Members get through vast quantities so much quicker than if we had someone doing this job in-house – around 5,000 a month, and sometimes more. It’s just not cost effective or time efficient for us to use anyone else.”

As a social enterprise, profits from Teamwork’s outsourcing services are ploughed back into the organisation so that it can continue to meet its charitable objectives – to support more vulnerable adults through various projects and activities.

Lisa added: “We had previously used a Leicester-based social enterprise which closed down just as I started working at Winkhaus. My Dad was a Teamwork Trust member after he suffered a brain tumour and retired from work, so I suggested we use them instead. They are a local organisation too, which makes more financial sense and also means we are contributing to our local community. We haven’t been disappointed. We are over the moon with their service and I can’t see the work ceasing any time soon.”

Graham Marshall, operations director, Teamwork Trust said: “We have centres in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough and been providing outsourcing services to local and national businesses for over 35 years. Businesses love working with us because we offer a reliable, local solution to their logistics demands, delivering to a high-quality, within budget and on time – all while making a real difference to the wellbeing and happiness of our members. We are delighted that a reputable organisation like Winkhaus is so pleased with the work we carry out for them.”
