Northamptonshire Rape Crisis (NRC) are looking for caring local businesses to sponsor a counselling room in their new town centre premises. Offering face to face counselling and group support to survivors of sexual violence, NRC have been operating in Northamptonshire for over 30 years. Last year they supported 700 local people and since moving to larger premises on Cliftonville they are now looking to increase their capacity to meet the constant demand for services.
Debbie Galton, from NRC said: “We have eight new purpose built counselling rooms that enable us to deliver a professional service to local people needing to access our counselling service. Unfortunately, they are quite sterile and as an independent charity we just don’t have the funds available to put the finishing touches that will make them more welcoming for our clients.”
The charity is promising to acknowledge any support in a number of ways including a logo on their Supporters Wall, an entry on their Corporate Supporters page on the website, thank you certificates and social media coverage along with a personal invitation to the formal launch of the building later in the year. The cost of sponsoring a room is £1500 and will enable NRC to provide blinds, plants, pictures and other decorative items to help visitors feel more comfortable.
Debbie added: “We secured a capital grant to buy the furniture for our recent move, which we ordered from ACS locally and it looks great. What we really need now is the chance to finish the rooms because the work we do with individuals is challenging and difficult, and they deserve to be in an environment that facilitates recovery.”
