The Richardson Partnership for Care in Northampton celebrated its 30th anniversary with a garden party for service users, their families, staff and guests. Established in 1989, The Richardson Partnership for Care has gained an excellent reputation for providing high quality rehabilitation and residential care in a supportive environment for adults with acquired brain injuries and separately for adults with learning disabilities.
It is very unusual for a residential care organisation to still be operating under the same ownership for 30 years. In fact, The Richardson Partnership for Care is one of the few independently owned and run specialist care providers in the country. It also is a family business. Laura Richardson-Cheater, managing partner, says: “I’m sure our longevity and success are due to remaining true to the values that my parents (Brian and Jackie) established back in 1989. We believe that social inclusion, community participation, dignity and respect, combined with tailored therapeutic input are key to enabling service users to fulfil their potential. We never forget that we’re all here because of the service users and they are at the heart of everything we do.”
The Richardson Partnership for Care continues to innovate in its approach to supporting adults with complex needs, delivering positive outcomes for the people in its care. This year has also seen the opening of its sixth residential care home.
Everyone at the garden party could take part in traditional games and activities such as tombola, bean bag throwing and ‘pin the tail on the donkey’, while enjoying entertainment from the Northampton Ukulele group and Martin the Music Man. A celebration cake was cut by service user, Denise, helped by Dawn Briggs, an administrator at Richardson Care, who has been with the organisation for 24 years.
Laura Richardson-Cheater adds: “We have a fantastic team at Richardson Care, and this was an opportunity to celebrate this achievement and say thank you. It was a fabulous day with a happy, relaxed atmosphere, which is indicative of the family environment that we aim to create in our homes.”
