When Northampton based Piroto Labelling, best known for manufacturing traceability labels for the food industry, wanted to trial new products they looked close to home. By joining forces with Northampton Town FC both companies won!
Piroto Labelling, who occupy a 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Northampton, wanted to use their label & tag manufacturing know-how to develop thermal event tickets and scratch cards.
Piroto Managing Director, Leigh Mann, said: “We have invested heavily in equipment over the last few years; increasing our capability to produce a wide range of labels, tags, tickets and scratch cards at record speed.” He added: “We looked for a local partner who would come on a journey with us as we trialled new things and ventured into new markets.”
First, Piroto successfully developed NTFC’s matchday tickets; meeting their requirements for ticket security, and working seamlessly with their barcode scanning entry system. Once the ticketing system was running smoothly attention was turned to developing a promotional scratch card that the club could use to raise funds.
A prototype scratch card was tested by NTFC and, whilst the concept was popular with fans, Piroto felt that some improvements could be made. Leigh said: “Having received feedback that the scratch cards were a bit messy, we got our technical team together to discuss improvements.” He went on to say: “Using our experience in developing product labels we decided to trial a completely different process. The end result was that we replaced the scratch off area with a peel-and-reveal sticker which solved the problem immediately!”
