Northamptonshire charity welcomes applications from new Trustees

“Diversity is key”

Northamptonshire charity welcomes applications from new Trustees

Local charity Northamptonshire Sport is recruiting new Trustees to join their board. The team have been helping county residents to ‘become more active, more often’ since 2003. But having recently attained status as a charity, efforts to improve the health of the county are accelerating.

In the coming years, work will continue to help people to enjoy sport, improve health, gain skills and strengthen local communities but tackling inequalities is a major focus for the charity. The team will be addressing the barriers preventing people from leading active lifestyles. To support their ambitious plans, the charity needs to recruit Trustees from the
backgrounds being prioritised or with close connections to those groups and communities.

Can you help make a difference in physical activity and sport in Northamptonshire?

Northamptonshire Sport would particularly welcome interest from people with disabilities, people from ethnically diverse backgrounds and people from lower-income communities in Northamptonshire, as they are currently unrepresented on the board.

Director at Northamptonshire Sport, Chris Holmes said:

“Northamptonshire is a tale of two-sides when it comes to physical activity and sport. Firstly, we’re home to iconic sports teams and global sporting events, like the British Grand Prix. We’re also blessed with glorious countryside and many volunteers who give up their time to run sports clubs and support local events.

But on the flip-side, we still have thousands more people who aren’t active, particularly in certain groups and areas within our county - where being active is more difficult. It’s here that work has to be done, diversity within our board is key to helping us reach those communities who need support the most.

If you’re excited by the prospect of using your skills to make a difference in physical activity and sport in Northamptonshire, please get in touch today.”
