Northamptonshire Chamber prepares for its centenary year

Posted: 30/11/16 by Northamptonshire Chamber

The finishing touches are being put to plans for a year of spectacular celebrations to mark Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce’s centenary.

Established in 1917, Northamptonshire Chamber was formed as boot and shoe manufacturers grew concerned over exports during the First World War. Today it is one of the oldest surviving business support companies in Northamptonshire.

The multi award winning organisation will celebrate its milestone anniversary in 2017 with a variety of events and celebrations as well as special presentations to members who will be celebrating their own landmark anniversaries with the organisation.

Northamptonshire Chamber Chief Executive Paul Griffiths said: “We are very proud of our Chamber’s history and will be inviting our members to celebrate this landmark anniversary with us.

“Earlier this year we set up a centenary committee which has been working hard on plans for a variety of exciting activities and events throughout 2017 as well as a special centenary publication.

“We hope the celebrations will unite past presidents with past board directors, former CEOs and other members and partners who have shaped our Chamber.

“Today we represent about 1,000 businesses that employ around a third of the county’s workforce and range from sole traders, through to SMEs, large PLCs and global organisations.

“Our success has resulted in our Chamber winning the Excellence in Membership Services Award for an unprecedented three years in a row and the Chamber of the Year Award in 2015 at the prestigious Chamber Awards.

“We hope as many members as possible will join us in 2017 to celebrate all our past achievements as we look forward to an even brighter future.”
