Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce is calling on traders across the county to join the Small Business Saturday campaign on Saturday 6 December.
Aimed at promoting and celebrating small businesses in the UK, the drive encourages shoppers to take to the High Streets or shop online at their local supplier on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Organisers are inviting all kinds of small businesses to get involved whether they are a family-run establishment, a local shop or online trader. A twitter account @SmallBizSatUK has also been set up to help promote the event nationally.
It is hoped these businesses will use this opportunity to showcase special promotions and events to attract more business.
Northamptonshire Chamber Chief Executive, Paul Griffiths, said: “Small Business Saturday puts the spotlight on small businesses and traders and allows them to show customers the benefits of shopping and trading locally. We are delighted to back this national initiative. Any initiative that supports small businesses in our county can only be a good thing.
“Our small businesses are the bread and butter of the local economy and we would encourage our members to take advantage of this event to generate extra trade."
