One of Stertil UK’s long-standing sub contractors, John Holubjowsky, is cycling from his home town of Leicester to Ballybofey in Co Donegal, Ireland. Big-hearted John is taking on this challenging ride to raise funds in support of Stertil UK’s local charity, The Bee Hive.
As boss of electrical contracting company Ellatech Limited, John has carried out installation work on behalf of Stertil UK for 20 years. He is a regular visitor to Ballybofey to spend time with an old friend so, on this occasion, John decided to swap the plane for his bike. However, he’s also swapped a short, comfortable hop across the Irish Sea for a gruelling 413 mile challenge. He’ll be leaving Leicester on Wednesday 17th April and is confident of reaching Ballybofey three days later, on Saturday 20th April.
John is very modest about his upcoming adventure. He says, “I figured that, as I was planning to visit my old pal anyway, it would be a good idea to raise a few quid for a fantastic local charity. The Bee Hive does a super job in providing opportunities for youngsters with learning and associated physical difficulties.”
Natasha Durcan, Projects and Contracts Coordinator at Stertil UK, has taken on the responsibility of collecting in donations from staff members and other sub contractors. “The Bee Hive has a hydrotherapy pool which is heavily used by students and can be hired out to the public for pleasure or therapy to aid physical recoveries,” says Natasha, “Unfortunately, the pool is in urgent need of refurbishment which the hire costs can’t cover, so this is what our money will go towards.”
John’s cycle challenge follows on from Stertil UK’s Christmas fundraising initiative which involved employees donating the money normally spent on Christmas cards to The Bee Hive. As a company, Stertil UK matched the employees’ donations and a total of £450 was handed over to the extremely grateful Bee Hive team.
