Students at the University of Northampton are working with Northamptonshire charity, NorPIP, to deliver its annual fundraising event on Sunday 24 March.
BA Events Management students will be organising a 12k run for adults (age 16+) around Pitsford Reservoir and a one mile run for children. Both runs will be held at Brixworth Country Park to raise awareness and vital funds for NorPIP.
Final year students Karina Ascuka, Georgette Eady, Liberty Houston, Georgina Belteky and Margareta Kiss will be organising the event, which hosted more than 120 visitors last year, as part of their final year project.
NorPIP is a family therapy charity which supports parents-to-be and parents with children under two to form stable relationships. Their mission is to provide early family therapy, where it is needed, so all babies can grow up in loving households.
Karina said: “We appreciate this opportunity to get experience and to help support this wonderful local charity. It’s going to be a great day – we will have a bouncy castle for the children and several food stalls providing refreshments for everyone throughout the day. This will be a rewarding task for all of us and is already helping to develop our event management skills. It will prove invaluable experience for when we graduate and take our first steps on the career ladder.”
Registration opens at 9am and there will be a warm up session at 9.10am. The 12k run will start at 10am. The children’s one mile run will start at 10.15am and will take place on the field adjacent to the car park.
Sarah Hillier, CEO of NorPIP, said: “I feel privileged to lead an organisation where the parent – infant relationship itself, is the focus of the intervention. We know that children with a secure attachment have better life chances. I want to ensure that NorPIP can provide Parent Infant Therapy for any family in the county that requires it. This ambitious goal means that fundraising is essential.”
Tickets are available here or on the day of the event at the venue for £20 for adults and £5 for children.
