Glorious sunshine welcomed the local business community to the Northants Chamber 2010 T&K Trophy.
The Cup, which was first played in 1984, has been won by the good and the great of Northamptonshire and now a relatively new golfer, the ‘2009 Thorpeness voted best dressed golfer’, Doug Iles takes the title with 29 points.
Nick Solomon of Blue Fish came second on count back, followed by Roger Wright of Nichols Engineering, pipping Duncan Webster of 1PCS again on countback.
Jon Thorpe, acs, who is retiring as Chamber Captain to Andy Cockerill, Cave and Sons, said: "The weather, the company, the comedy and hospitality at Collingtree Golf Club meant we were blessed with one of the best golfing experiences you could have. We applaud Doug on his first success and will be taking measures to reduce his handicap!"
Team winners were captained by Brian Kingston of DBfB and included Matt Graham (DBfB) Doug Iles (Dunham Law) along with Gary Pettit of Marshman Price.
2010 Chamber Captain, Andy Cockerill, won longest drive with a 310 yard drive and then followed on to win the ‘12th’ nearest the pin. The AGM of the Golf Society also took place and included deserved recognition to three-times winner Brian Beck for his 24 years service as Club Secretary. In addition, a toast and reflection to previous winner, friend and Chamber Golf ‘Great’, Paul Tudor, Underwoods Commercial who sadly passed away last year.
Andy also announced that Jason Brice, Redwood Partnership would take the Vice Captaincy role moving forward.
There are two places available for the June ‘Thorpeness’ Captains weekend and bookings are being taken for the pairs challenge Summer ‘Rose Bowl’ Competition.
