Another great year of motor racing looks to be on the cards at Rockingham this season after the Northamptonshire circuit released its provisional race calendar for 2017.
With two new events added to this season’s line-up, motorsport fans have a total of 16 race meetings to look forward to at the venue between March and December, which includes action on both two and four wheels.
New to Rockingham this season is Truxx Factor Show featuring giant American rigs, vintage classics and modern day machines. The two-day event on September 30 and October 1, will also feature racing from some old friends – the Pickup Truck Championship, Legends Racing UK and MINI 7 Racing Club.
For those who prefer their sporting action on two wheels, in addition to the return of the ever popular ThundersportGB race meeting on July 29/30, the circuit will be offering a second helping of motorcycle racing. The NORASPORT British Supermoto & Superlite Championship visits Rockingham over the weekend of October 28/29 for its season finale.
Drifting proved a popular attraction at Rockingham in 2016, and so it is only fitting that the Spring Matsuri and round one of the Drift Cup series raises the curtain on another action-packed season. Fans can catch the drifters on track over the weekend of March 11/12.
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship leads the action on four wheels and will again be the headline race meeting when it returns in the summer. Rockingham hosts Round Eight of the popular tin-top series on the August Bank Holiday weekend (26/27).
In April (29/30), the high-performance teams from the British GT Championship return with the support of the rising stars of the BRDC F3 Championship. This meeting always brings more than a touch of glamour to the track showcasing some of the world’s exotic supercars.
British Automobile Race Club (BARC) opens the circuit’s club racing action on April 8/9, before returning for a second visit in the summer (July 1/2), while the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) is also pencilled in for two visits on June 17/18 and September 16/17.
BARC Midland has doubled its offering for its Sprint competitors at Rockingham. In addition to their regular early season outing in March (26), the British Automobile Race Club will return for a second meeting later in the autumn on October 22.
Completing the club line-up are Pickup Truck Championship (May 14), MotorSport Vision Racing (June 24/25) and 750 Motor Club Car Racing (September 9/10), while Rockingham Stages Rally draws the season to a close in December.
