Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce’s marketing manager has raised more than £1,000 for charity by running the London Marathon.
Nick Blackmore completed his first marathon on Sunday in aid of the Chamber’s charity of the year, Spurgeons.
To date Nick has raised £1,200 for the Rushden-based children’s charity and supporters still have time to add to his fundraising total.
Nick, who is pictured with his London Marathon finisher’s medal, said: “It was an incredible experience and one that I won’t forget.
“The atmosphere was brilliant and for the last mile it felt like I was running on air because the crowds were so amazing. It felt like the whole of London was out to support us.
“I had very high expectations for the day but it was even better than I’d had hoped for.
“I’m so pleased to have run the London Marathon for Spurgeons. Nearly every runner was running for a good cause and I would have felt very left out if I hadn’t been running for a charity too.
“Running for Spurgeons definitely inspired me and knowing I was doing it for them helped me to keep going throughout all the months of training and the marathon itself.”
Nick also paid tribute to the thousands of volunteers who helped to make the event possible.
He said: “All the volunteers were incredible. The event was so well organised.”
Nick completed the marathon in four hours 13 minutes and one second.
