DACT have for a number of years, had seven fully accessible minibuses with which it serves its many thousands of passengers across the county but Daventry District particularly.
Every year DACT sells its oldest bus and put the funds towards a replacement bus and the organisation’s ongoing fund raising efforts.
It has a partner agency in London who have bought most of its recent offloaded buses as they are so well maintained and looked after.
Only this year they managed to get some funding to buy their own brand new bus, leaving DACT wondering who it could sell its seven-year-old minibus to.
It advertised everywhere it could and out of the blue received an email from a company in Malta!
DACT assistant manager Phil Houston said: “We were very sceptical at first and thought it was some kind of hoax or scam only to find it was very genuine. So a week ago after paying for the bus, a member of their staff flew over from Malta and drove our old bus back.
“The picture shows the bus on one of its ferry journeys. Life is never dull when you work with people!”
