Futures Housing Group has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for its procurement work.
The housing provider, which manages around 9,100 homes throughout the East Midlands, is up for the Procurement Innovation / Initiative of the Year at the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.
Futures is up against 10 other organisations, including the University of Edinburgh, for the illustrious title.
Last year the group’s procurement team became the first in the world to adopt the innovate Framework Alliance Contract (FAC-1).
It worked closely with Professor David Mosey PhD, Director, Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King’s College London, on the FAC–1 which is designed to help small businesses access bigger contracts.
John Thornhill, contracts and procurement manager at Futures Housing Group, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been shortlisted for such a prestigious award.
“We took on the FAC-1 contract to create greater opportunities for SMEs (small to medium sized enterprises) in our communities and have worked hard to ensure that’s the case so it’s nice to be recognised.
“We’d also like to thank Professor Mosey and King’s College London for providing us with this opportunity.”
Futures was recently chosen by the King’s College London as a focus of new research into the impact a pioneering approach to procurement has upon an organisation.
The National GO Awards celebrate excellence in public procurement in the UK and will be held on Tuesday 21 March at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
