Novacroft has won a contract with West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (Metro) to capture and store data and produce cards from online applications for the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) and other smart card projects. Novacroft will also be providing a Customer Web Portal for applicants to apply online for cards.
Novacroft is a Northamptonshire-based organisation designing, developing and managing innovative end-to-end smart card ticketing solutions within the bus and rail industries. Its clients include Transport for London, the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC), the Scottish Government, Improvement Service and many local authorities.
Metro looks after approximately 500,000 concessionary pass holders in the West Yorkshire area, and will manage over 400,000 ENCTS cards, 10,000 commercial multi-operator photocards and 80,000 young peoples passes during the life of the 3 year contact.
Novacroft won Lots 1 (data capture and electronic verification), 2 (card management system) and 4 (online portal (includes card production from applications made through this portal)) and is the lead contractor. The decision was officially announced in September 2009, following a legal ‘quiet’ period.
All elements of this project won by Novacroft will be undertaken through Novacroft’s in-house facilities, enabling a fully integrated solution under one roof. Data capture will run in line with Novacroft’s high quality standards centred around double data entry, and InNovator© (approved by the Department for Transport (DfT) for ENCTS data storage) will be used as the card management system.
Novacroft has now signed contracts and launched the project with Metro, who have also made arrangements to use Novacroft’s contact centre for managing calls regarding replacement cards.
Winning this project is an important part of Novacroft’s growth and progression into the smart card marketplace, and Novacroft looks forward to working with Metro on this contract.
