Fantastic first six months for Northamptonshire in 2014

We’re already half-way into 2014 and what an amazing six months it has been for the Chamber and for Northamptonshire as a whole.

Since the start of our the year, our surveys have been pointing towards economic recovery and Northampton itself has been recognised nationally for being at the top for best performing town/city for cultivating business success – beating the capital and the more established locations such as Aberdeen and Bristol in a poll by Experian.

And of course, earlier this year Northampton was also identified in the top 10 for start-ups between 2010 and 2012.

Our Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) for Q4, 2013 showed companies were optimistic and confident about 2014 and our QES for Q1, 2014, continues this positive drive and illustrates that export levels in Northamptonshrie grew significantly in strength in the first quarter, mirroring the national trend reported by The British Chambers of Commerce.

‘Our economic report also pointed out the county’s manufacturing sector was continuing to show strong increases in home and overseas sales…’

Our Q1 2014 economic report also pointed out the county’s manufacturing sector was continuing to show strong increases in home and overseas sales and that companies are recruiting in Northamptonshire.

During the last few years the Chamber has gone through considerable change and like every other company, we have had to adapt to the changing economic conditions.

‘The evidence is now suggesting the economical tide is turning.’

Since the start of 2014, we have been seeing significant growth in our membership as business confidence rises and more organisations are now actively seeking to engage or re-engage with ourselves. In fact, in our June July edition of In Business we welcomed 53 new members into the chamber community.

The evidence is suggesting the economical tide is turning.

Not only are we growing as an organisation but expanding our offering as well – in April we launched a new Letter of Credit service to enable a more secure means of payment in international trade transactions for our exporters.

We want to build a strong economy again and it is clear Northamptonshire is very much open for business - long may this upward trend continue.
