Take part in a 1940s night at the Wicksteed Park Pavilion

On Saturday 16 October 2010, ‘Puttin’ On The Blitz’ is due to take place in the Wicksteed Park Pavilion with fundraising for the Royal British Legion.

Re-live the spirit of the 1940s with ‘The Blitz Boys Band’, ‘The Little Big Horns’ (four-piece horn section), Richard C Parker (Air raid warden/compere) and ‘The D-Day Darlings’.

The D Day Darlings have packed up their troubles in their old kit bag and are performing at events and festivals all over the country - next stop Wicksteed Park for their Putting on the Blitz event! They are a delightful close harmony trio performing timeless 1940s classic's with all the charisma and charm of the forces favourite sweethearts and proud to be supported by Dame Vera Lynn herself and The Royal British Legion.

Richard C Parker (Air raid warden/compere/comic) is a local performer and is proud to have been a compere for Jimmy Cricket, Jim Bowen, The Beverly Sisters, The Baron Knights, Bernard Manning and most of the established club circuit acts in the UK. Closer to home Richard was resident at the Wicksteed Pavilion, Kettering, as a cast member performing in a variety of daytime shows.

The Little Big Horns are one of the top brass sections in the UK and clients include Mick Jagger, Yorkshire TV, Channel 4, The Firebirds and many more.

‘Puttin’ On The Blitz’ is produced and directed by Katie Ashby. Katie says: “I am so excited that all of these popular 1940s acts will be under one roof for this event. Don’t forget your dancing shoes and remember, 1940s dress is encouraged!”

Tickets are £19.50 each (including wartime supper) and can be purchased online at www.wicksteedpark.co.uk, in person in the Box Office or by phoning 01536 512475.
