Schools Carbon Trading Project: Be part of a world-first!
Northamptonshire County Council’s Energy & Carbon Management Team has launched the first and only real-life, real-time, web-based carbon trading competition designed specifically for schools.
As part of a larger bid by the Council earlier this year, the Schools Carbon Trading Project secured match-funding from the European Regional Development Framework (ERDF) North West Europe Interreg IVB Programme called ‘ZECOs’ (the Zero CO2 low carbon project), meaning that all monies invested in Schools Carbon Trading by the Council will be matched by the EU until April 2015.
While the Council endeavours to use these public funds to invest in the scheme’s assets and long-term future, the competition itself calls for contributions from third parties in the form of cash and kind to be awarded as prizes, and to support the supply of Schools Carbon Trading promotional and educational material to schools.
Northamptonshire County Council is inviting organisations that operate in the Green Economy to an exclusive round-table event to be held at the Chamber on Wednesday 11 January at 11.30am. This will be an opportunity to be briefed on the Project, view the material and meet members of the Council’s Energy & Carbon Management Team.
Please note, businesses in other sectors that are able to demonstrate a strong CSR commitment are also welcome.
More information is available in the ‘Sponsors’ section at www.schoolscarbontrading.co.uk.
With the Project anticipated to rollout across the EU within three years, we really hope you take the opportunity to endorse this innovative environmental programme and showcase the very best of Northamptonshire business.
Should you wish to express your interest in the round-table event, please contact Salina Gendoo-Smith at salina.gendoo-smith@northants-chamber.co.uk by Friday 6 January 2012.
