Inspiring Achievement Employer Awards
The Inspiring Achievement Employer Awards are being held for the first time to acknowledge the support, dedication and commitment of employers across the county in supporting our young workforce of tomorrow.
The Northamptonshire Education and Work Service (NEWS) at Connexions, supported by the Northamptonshire County Council, are hosting an awards ceremony to recognise employers who have gone above and beyond to support young people in secondary schools across the county. Secondary schools and partner organisations have been nominating employers whom they feel have excelled in inspiring the achievement of young people during the past academic year. Around 70 employers have been nominated from across the county. The winners will be announced at a celebration event on 3 November 2010 at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough.
Opening the proceedings will be Paul Burnett, corporate director for children and young people's services at Northamptonshire County Council. The event compère will be Jon Sleightholme, managing director of JMS Consulting, ex England International and Northampton Saints player. We also have two young compères and entertainment on the night from Abbeyfield School and Wrenn School and a film being produced by students at Latimer School.
Kerry Senatore, manager of the NEWS team said: “This is a great opportunity to show how much value employers add to the learning of young people. With all the current developments in education there has never been a more opportune time for employers to get involved. Helping to develop employability skills and enterprising skills in young people, based on real life work situations can have long term influences and help raise their motivation and achievement in school. We work with over 3,000 employers who regularly give their time by offering work experience placements, support work related learning activities in schools or employ young apprentices. This awards night will go some way to show the appreciation and thanks for all the support provided.”
