Cobblers fans snap up more than 1,000 Liverpool tickets in just five hours
By 2pm on Wednesday, Cobblers season ticket holders and members had already purchased more than 1,000 tickets for the Carling Cup tie with Liverpool at Anfield on 22 September, with many buying an extra ticket for a friend or colleague.
This has led to an increase in sales for the Southend game at Sixfields on Saturday, and by 2pm on Wednesday less than 1,250 tickets remained on sale for home fans for Saturday's game.
Tickets for the Liverpool tie remain on sale until 8pm on Wednesday to season ticket holders and members only at one ticket per person. Season ticket holders and members are allowed to buy an extra ticket to allow a friend or colleague to sit with them providing that friend or colleague has or now buys a Southend match ticket (this ticket will be on a like for like basis, i.e. adult Southend ticket - adult Liverpool ticket). Purchases can be made in person from the Sixfields Box Office or by calling 01604 683777.
The club are expecting Thursday to be an even busier day, as from 10am to 8pm on Thursday, any non season ticket holding supporter who has or who now buys a Southend match ticket can buy one Liverpool ticket (this ticket will be on a like for like basis, i.e. adult Southend ticket - adult Liverpool ticket). Supporters can buy for a limitless amount of people as long as they have their season ticket books or Southend tickets to prove the status of each person they are buying for.
