acs recognised in Sunday Times Best Small Companies to Work For list
acs, the region’s leading provider of IT services and office solutions, has been recognised in the 2010 Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For list, published on 28 February.
Best Companies established the accreditation award scheme, now in its 10th year, to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Based on staff feedback, it looks at employee engagement as an integral part of a company’s success and growth and sets a benchmark for other employers. A record 1,086 organisations from the private and public sectors applied for accreditation this year.
Despite a turbulent and challenging year, the survey shows that staff engagement is still high on the agenda for UK organisations and after being recognised with a ‘First Class’ single star in 2009, acs received an ‘Outstanding’ two star award in 2010, entering the Top 100 list in 49th position.
The glittering award ceremony was held in Battersea Park, London and as the evening progressed, acs also went on to win ‘Best Improver’ for climbing over 200 places in the list. The Sunday Times said ‘acs makes its debut in our top 100 this year and the improvements it undertook to get here outdo all other UK SME firms’. This special award was one of only six given out on the night by the evening’s host, BBC News presenter Kate Silverton.
Jonathan Austin, CEO and founder of Best Companies, commented: "We would like to congratulate acs on their outstanding achievement. An engaged workforce is essential as organisations move out of the recession and into a more stable economic situation."
This Sunday Times success for acs comes in the year that they celebrate 15 years of profitable growth and also a recent ‘Business of the Year’ win at the Northamptonshire Business Awards, two outstanding achievements given the recent climate.
Joint Managing Director John Harley added: "We were delighted to be recognised for our commitment to our employees in 2009’s awards. To receive an additional star in this our most challenging year of trading, makes us feel especially proud. To be one of the Sunday Times top 100 Best Companies to Work For is a fantastic achievement and makes us want to work harder than ever to provide the very best training and environment for our hard working staff. A big thank you also needs to go to our customers who have helped us achieve our growth and continue to support our team at acs."
With offices in Northampton and Milton Keynes, the stars at acs continue to shine brightly as the region’s only Microsoft and HP ‘TOP 10 UK GOLD’ partner, helping clients improve productivity, lower costs and gain competitive advantage.
