The University of Northampton Presents the Future of Motorsport
Wednesday 26 May will see the first major event at The University of Northampton’s NVision Centre.
The day is themed around Virtual Reality (VR) as an enabling technology for motorsport and is attracting top organisations from the industry. The new £11m centre is the most advanced VR facility in the UK and forms part of the University’s School of Science and Technology. It comprises a unique, five sided ActiveCube and two ActiveWalls from Virtalis.
Stuart Wayne, NVision’s manager, explained: “We sit in the middle of a motorsport hub here in the East Midlands. The University has a key role to play in supporting the industry, particularly assisting Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs). Presentations given during the day will include how best to harness advanced visualisation for design, CFD analysis and reverse engineering.”
Grants for the NVision Centre have been secured in the form of matched funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with further financial support from East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd. East Midlands SMEs can also benefit from an allocation of free access to the facility following the launch event.
