Northampton Borough Council recognised by No10
The improvements made in Northampton Borough Council's customer service have been recognised by the Prime Minister.
In a letter from 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister has written to congratulate the Borough Council on achieving the Customer Excellence Standard. Last year the Council became one of the first local authorities in the country to achieve the award following a visit from an independent inspector.
The inspector spoke with both staff and customers about the service provided by the One Stop Shop and telephone Contact Centre. The inspectors found that the Council consistently provided a high level of customer service, and that staff were knowledgeable, helpful and committed to meeting the needs of each customer. The inspector commented that: "all staff involved showed a real passion for what they do and a pride in delivering customer focussed services."
Leader of Northampton Borough Council, Councillor Brian Hoare said: "We are committed to putting customers at the heart of everything we do. We have invested in our staff and introduced new technologies to help us offer the best possible service to our customers. We have worked hard to make improvements across the Council, and our successes are being seen in positive reports in every area. So I am delighted to see that the progress we have made has been recognised by No. 10.
"It is a real achievement to achieve the Customer Excellence Standard, it is another sign of how the Borough Council is continuing to improve. We will not rest on our laurels, but I think our staff can feel rightly proud that the Prime Minister has added his praise to what we are doing."
