Northampton Borough Council adds more parent-friendly car parking spaces to town centre
Parents coming into Northampton will find it easier to park, shop and enjoy their visit thanks to new parent-friendly parking bays being introduced in the town.
Following customer feedback, Northampton Borough Council is creating 18 new parent-friendly parking bays in two of the town's busiest multi-storey car parks. Work is due to be completed by the end of this week.
The parent-friendly parking bays are larger to make parking in the town safer for families. The wider bays allow parents to load and unload pushchairs and shopping while keeping their children close by. The bays will be marked as green areas with white markings in the Mayorhold and St Michael's car parks.
Councillor Trini Crake, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for environment said: "We have listened to what our customers have told us and created these new parking bays for parents. These wider bays will make it much easier for parents to load and unload their shopping when visiting our town.
"Northampton is a great place to visit, with a wide range of shops, places to eat, a market as well as entertainment and events. We want to make it as easy as possible to come into the town centre and enjoy everything our town has to offer."
Fourteen parent-friendly bays are being added on Floor 1 of the Mayorhold Car Park, and four bays are being created on the entrance level of St Michael's Car Park.
