Have your say on budget proposals
People in Northampton will have the chance to get involved in deciding how the Borough Council spends money on services.
Northampton Borough Council's proposed budget will be discussed at four specially arranged public meetings in the new year. There will also be a chance to get involved at three community meetings and other Council meetings to discuss the Council's financial plans.
Public meetings are being held across the town at:
- Hunsbury Hill Centre in West Hunsbury, on 19 January from 6.30pm
- Liburd Community Room in Kingsthorpe, on 26 January from 6.30pm
- Lodge Farm Community Centre in Lings, on 28 January from 6.30pm
- The Guildhall, on 4 February from 6.30pm
The Borough Council's budget will also be discussed at:
- Headlands and Eastfield Neighbourhood Management meeting held at Jubilee Hall, on 21 January from 7.30pm to 9.30pm
- Neighbourhood Partnership 7 meeting held at Bellinge Village Pavillion, on 27 January from 7pm to 9pm
- Neighbourhood Partnership 8 meeting held at Barry Road School, on 3 February from 7pm to 9pm
Councillor David Perkins, Northampton Borough Council's cabinet member for finance, said: "The current economic climate is having a huge effect on your finances and ours. Our budget proposals have looked at how we can protect frontline services, cut overheads and improve efficiency. We know we have some tough decisions to make, and we are committed to making this an excellent council that ensures you get value for money.
"We need to know what you want, this is your chance to get involved. We are here and ready to listen so come along to these meetings and talk to us."
