East Midlands Tourism Launches 2010 Tourism Awards
East Midlands Tourism, emda’s tourism arm, is launching the 2010 Enjoy England Excellence Awards, celebrating tourism businesses that go the extra mile to provide guests with an exceptional experience.
From today (29 March) businesses can apply to be voted the region’s best in a number of categories. There are 17 awards to be won including Guest Accommodation, Large Visitor Attraction, Think Family, Access for All and Outstanding Customer Service. Businesses have until 4 June to get their applications in.
Ruth Hyde, Tourism Director at emda, commented: “The East Midlands offers some fantastic attractions and experiences, so it’s great to be able to showcase some of the excellent work that’s going on in the region in this sector through these awards. A number of the region’s previous award winners have gone on to win at the national finals and this has really helped to raise their profile as well as that of the region.’
‘Winning an award is a fabulous way for a business to demonstrate how it is excelling at what it is doing. Visitors have high expectations of what they want from a short break and winning an award can help to give a business the edge over its competitors, because is sends out a clear message that they are committed to delivering the highest quality experience possible.”
Businesses wishing to enter the awards should contact their local Destination Management Partnership or go to www.eastmidlandstourism.com for an application form.
In order to make applying as easy as possible, East Midlands Tourism has also produced a guide to help businesses through the application process. The booklet ‘Celebrating Excellence’ contains case studies of past winners, top tips on completing the application form and information about the process and is available from www.eastmidlandstourism.com.
