Duston School seeks business to sponsor photography competition

In September 2010, The Duston School, as part of its aim to become an outstanding school, will be delivering BTEC Photography to its Post 16 Students.

As part of this, an opportunity has opened up for a local business to be involved directly or indirectly through the creation of a photography competition that they can sponsor.

The competition will allow the pupils to get a good understanding and an opportunity for direct engagement with both industry and outside agencies which will aid the development of personal skills, independent working and critical analysis. It is hoped that this initiative could be extended to other year groups or community groups in the future, providing a focal point within the school community.

It is envisaged that, in return for their generosity, the sponsor will be involved in the choice of subject for the competition and, after the prize has been awarded, be given the opportunity to display the work at a venue of their choosing, such as a company reception area. This will further enhance the kudos of the competition and enable the sponsor to demonstrate the strength of their community links. Press coverage may be an additional benefit for those involved, where appropriate.

If you would like to be involved or would like to find out more information, contact Julie Ricketts, Business Education Co-ordinator at The Duston School on 01604 460004 or jricketts@thedustonschool.northants.sch.uk
