Connexions seeks involvement from Northants employers

Connexions has been appointed a provider for delivering Work Related Learning and Employer Engagement in schools in Northamptonshire.

Connexions successfully won the contract following an open tendering process with the County Council. It has subsequently formed a One Stop Shop which includes delivering Work Experience, Employer Engagement and placing young people in Apprenticeships and work (CVU).

This department is called the Northamptonshire Education and Work Service (NEWS). As part of its priorities, it would like to increase the involvement of employers working in schools, to enhance the learning within the classroom and allow students to see the value of what they are learning - bridging the gap between education and the world of work.

Connexions hopes to provide schools with employer links both locally and nationally and assist teachers in successfully delivering Work Related Learning, supporting the new 14-19 learning pathways, and arranging suitable professional development placements for teachers and other staff.
