College welcomes top chef as part of food workshop
The Catering Department at Northampton College opened its doors to local restaurateurs, hosting a food quality workshop last week.
‘Menu for Success’, organised by Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd and run by LiveTourism, offered local food and drink businesses a series of workshops including Maximising Your Menu, Menu Costing and Seafood Success.
There was also a cookery demonstration from top chef Liam Goodwill - a catering lecturer at the College - as well as Head Chef at The Pheasant at Keyston, who recently made it to the final of ‘Best British Restaurant’ on Gordon Ramsay’s hit show The F Word.
Mike Coppock, Curriculum Manager for catering at the College said: “We were delighted to host this event at the College. There was a fantastic turnout and it was a great opportunity for the local business community to discuss ideas and share experiences. I think everyone took away some valuable tips – not just ideas for menus, but how to successfully manage the business side of things.”
The Business Centre at Northampton College offers a range of NVQs and Apprenticeships in the catering and hospitality sector. For more information visit: www.northamptoncollege.ac.uk/business or call 01604 734 323.
