Chamber announces PSP Association as Charity of the Year 2010/11
The PSP Association has been selected as the Chamber’s Charity of the Year for 2010/11.
The chance to be the Chamber’s Charity of the Year was put out to tender for the second consecutive year. A total of 11 charities from the 26 in Chamber membership responded and four of these were shortlisted to present to the Chamber staff, who ultimately voted on the charity they wanted to support in the coming financial year.
During its time as the Chamber Charity, the Chamber will be working with the PSP Association to raise awareness of its work and staff will participate in various fundraising activities for the charity throughout the year. The PSP Association will also be given complimentary membership to the Chamber's Business Alliance Group, enabling it to network with some of the most influential companies in the county, meet with local MPs and benefit from increased media coverage and free tickets to Chamber events.
Jane Hardy, Chief Executive of The PSP Association, said: “The news that our Charity has been chosen as Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce’s Charity for the coming Year is the most wonderful news to my colleagues and to me.
“For, the help of the Chamber will provide us with a marvellous opportunity to raise awareness of our work supporting those affected by the terminal neuro degenerative diseases Progressive Supranuclear Palsy [PSP] and Cortico Basal Degeneration [CBD]; both of which are far more common than is actually appreciated by not only the medical profession, but also by the public.”
The Chamber presented its 2009/10 Chamber Charity of the Year - the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) – with a cheque for £472.50 at a Business Alliance Group dinner at Brampton Grange Conference Centre in Chapel Brampton on Tuesday 30 March 2010.
