Arts market on the Square that will become a green

This weekend Northampton's monthly arts market will be set against the backdrop of a village green as the town's Market Square continues to celebrate art in the town centre.

Northampton's Market Square will be the main attraction for anyone interested in art this weekend. On Sunday 1 August the Market Square will be home to the month arts market, featuring the work of over 50 local artists, and the Blink Festival's "Summer Sundae".

Every month, the Market Square's arts market provides the opportunity to enjoy a showcase of local artists displaying and selling their works. With a wide variety of high quality styles and forms to choose from, the arts market is a wonderful place to browse or pick up something unique.

The Blink Festival is also bringing another new dimension of art and entertainment, with the organisers arranging to turn the Market Square into a village green on Sunday.

Councillor Paul Varnsverry, Northampton Borough Council's cabinet member for art and events said: "This summer our town centre has been transformed into a wonderful celebration of art; first with the Pride of Northampton, now with the Blink Festival. On Sunday we also have over 50 artists joining the regular Market Square arts market; a showcase for some of the best local artists and our active arts community.

"The Blink Festival’s ‘Summer Sundae’ will be bringing music, performances and refreshments to the Market Square. With the ‘Britain in Bloom’ displays adding extra colour, and sunny and dry conditions forecast for Sunday, it provides an outstanding opportunity to come into Northampton’s town centre, discover all the fabulous things that are happening and be amazed!"
