Creaton-based conference venue Highgate House is celebrating again having achieved the prestigious Investors in People recognition, the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK.
Highgate House is part of Sundial Group, which also includes venues in Surrey and Warwickshire. It also offers a meetings management consultancy service, Sundial Options & Solutions. Unlike many of the large organisations within the sector, it remains owner-operated, providing customers with the reassurance of a trusted brand alongside the level of service expected from a family business.
Sundial first achieved ‘IIP’ status in 1999, meaning that for over ten years it has been a member of an exclusive group of UK employers eligible to use and display the sought-after Investors in People logo and plaque. The accreditation reaffirms Sundial’s commitment to its staff, and its desire to be employer of choice in the meetings industry.
Lucy McGibbon, Sundial’s Human Resources Director, was instrumental in leading the company through the process. She said: “Investors in People is a tool we use to ensure we remain focused on the wellbeing of our employees. Hospitality businesses are defined not by their processes or policies, but by their people and the service that frontline staff provide. The IIP Framework ensures we give them all the support they need to be able to excel.”
Paul Williams, Cluster General Manager responsible for Highgate House, also noted that IIP was a ringing endorsement from the venue’s staff. “Part of the audit involves confidential interviews with members of our team,” he explains. “Achieving IIP means that in their eyes, we fulfil the promises we make to them.”
Simon Jones, Chief Executive of Investors in People UK, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Sundial Group. I would like to congratulate the organisation and its people on their commitment to continuous improvement. Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organisations and their people enhance performance and meet goals.”
