Item submitted by: Sonifex LtdAstral Media Radio GP, a division of Astral Media, is using illuminated signs by Sonifex, a Wellingborough-based manufacturer.
Astral Media is a leading Canadian media company specialising in television, radio, outdoor advertising and interactive media. It is also Canada's largest radio broadcaster with 83 licensed radio stations in 8 provinces, including Énergie, RockDétente, Virgin Radio, EZ Rock and The Bear.
Larry King, Chief Engineer, is responsible for 23 radio stations, 24 repeaters and 2 TV stations in the British Columbia interior of Canada. Larry first saw the Sonifex SignalLED studio illuminated signs being demonstrated at WABE by Sonifex distributor Sonotechnique and as their radio station in Kelowna was in the process of being renovated, he decided to order 4 of the signs for their studios. He intends to purchase more for future projects.
Larry said: "The lights were the perfect finishing touch for our studios. They created lots of comments from guests and staff alike. I hadn't previously shown any one what I had ordered, so it was a pleasant surprise to everyone."
The new SignalLED range of illuminated RGB LED signs are designed for use outside and inside studios, meeting rooms and conference rooms to give a dynamic status indication. Because the signs themselves contain the control electronics, and the fact that RGB LEDs are used, the signs can be simply configured onsite for any particular requirements. Additionally, they only draw 3W of power making them an energy efficient lighting method.
Although a range of standard signs is supported, custom signs, for example with a company name or logo, can be produced for a nominal setup fee.
