East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has today officially launched the region’s new European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Competitiveness Programme for the period 2007 - 2013.
Worth £190 million over the next six years, the programme is aimed at increasing productivity through innovation, improving resource efficiency in businesses and boosting sustainable economic and enterprise activity in disadvantaged communities. It is set to target Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), Local Authorities, universities, business support intermediaries, entrepreneurs, social enterprises and community organisations.
This latest scheme builds on the success of the previous ERDF Programme which ran from 2000-2006 and was managed in the region by Government Office East Midlands (GOEM). emda will be responsible for the management of the 2007-13 ERDF Programme, following a decision by the UK Government to transfer responsibilities for ERDF management to the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs).
Expressions of interest are currently being invited for projects that support the programme’s innovation and sustainable business practice priority, with up to £25 million potentially available for associated activities. The deadline for this particular area is Friday 18 April.
